PRESS RELEASE
Lonesome Day Records to Release New Album
“Behind the Scenes” by Darrell Webb
NASHVILLE - (December 1, 2004) – Lonesome Day Records announces the release a new album entitled “Behind the Scenes” by Darrell Webb in March 2005. Webb provides his powerful tenor and lead vocals, plays mandolin and wrote/co-wrote four songs on the project. Ronnie Stewart produced and mixed the album and provided his banjo, fiddle and guitar talents. Numerous other guests include Dolly Parton singing her original song “Cold,” two-time IBMA Fiddle Player of the Year winner Michael Cleveland, Phil Leadbetter; Randy Kohrs, Dwight McCall, Richard Bennett and Harold Nixon. The first single from the album is “I Beg You Little Darling Not to Cry” and will be released on Prime Cuts of Bluegrass in January.
Webb is also a successful songwriter having songs recorded by the Lonesome River Band, Lou Reid & Carolina, and Wildfire. Referring to Behind the Scenes , well respected songwriter Mark Brinkman exclaimed, " Darrell Webb's solo project OH MY!! They absolutely 'slam' I Beg You Little Darlin' !! Ronnie Stewart's fiddle break is to die for and Darrell sings it right on the money."
Darrell Webb first hit the bluegrass circuit with the Lonesome River Band and later toured with legendary bluegrass player JD Crowe. He has appeared on two albums with Dolly Parton, as both a musician and vocalist. Webb is a founding and current member of the popular bluegrass band Wildfire that includes band members Phil Leadbetter, Robert Hale, Curt Champman and Carry Crabtree. Leadbetter stated, “Some people work for a lifetime honing their skills to become great musicians. There are musicians like Darrell who just seem to have this natural gift. His highly technical solos just seem to roll effortless from his fingers. Then, I need to add that this guy is also one of the best singers I have ever known. He is the whole package. In my opinion, he’s the most under-rated musician/singer in bluegrass today. I'm proud to be his band mate in Wildfire, as well as his friend."
